Several sources, one player

What you want to hear or watch is not always in the same place. Malm Play brings several media sources together with queues, a library and history in the same app.

When is the app useful?

Continue a podcast episode on your way to work, play music from a connected service or browse the collection on your own Navidrome server. Navidrome is a music server you run yourself and connect the app to.

What it does

  • Music and video. Find and play content from YouTube and YouTube Music, with queues and playback controls.
  • Follow podcasts. Add RSS feeds, find episodes and continue where you left off.
  • Use your own collection. Connect a Navidrome server to browse and play the music you keep there.
  • Take available content with you. Play supported downloads offline and keep track with your library and playback history.

Data and connections

Play gets content from the media services you choose. Network use and account access depend on the source. Some content can be downloaded for offline use.

Help and frequently asked questions

Which Android version do I need?
The app requires Android 9 or later. Google Play shows whether it is available for your device.
How do I keep my data?
Podcast subscriptions, listening history and the queue can be backed up to a file, with optional password protection. YouTube data has a separate export. Accounts, media files and content held by connected services are separate from a podcast backup.
Which permissions does the app need?
The app uses the network to get content from the media sources you choose. Notifications provide playback controls, and media access is used by relevant file and download features. Account access depends on the services you connect.
How can I send feedback?
Explain what you did and what happened. Include the app version and Android version if you can. Send feedback.
What does test access involve?
You get access to a version in development through Google Play. Features and appearance can change between test versions. I handle requests manually and use feedback to improve the app.
